How dare you presume…

This badge was designed and distributed in 1973. It was worn by Adelaide members of the Gay Activists Alliance.

It reflected an individual’s pride in their sexuality, and pride of being ‘out’ publicly. It also acted as a reminder that homosexuality had for a long time been hidden and seen as shameful within the broader Australian community. The badge also acts as a reminder to the viewer that heterosexuality is not the only sexual orientation a person can have.
